INEOS Automotive has launched a five-seat double cab Chassis variant of the Grenadier Quartermaster pick-up, aimed at specialist vehicle converters and commercial body builders worldwide.

Developed in tandem with the Quartermaster pick-up, the Chassis Cab is engineered to deliver a class-leading combination of off-road capability and load-carrying versatility, with the comfort, safety, refinement and features that today’s drivers expect.

George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director, INEOS Automotive, comments, “In the first year since the Grenadier launched we have already seen a number of specialist conversions, particularly with emergency services such as fire, police and inshore rescue, so launching the Quartermaster Chassis Cab is a natural step that takes our off-road expertise into many commercial areas that need a class leading 4X4.”

Sharing the Quartermaster’s 3227mm wheelbase – 305mm longer than the Grenadier Station Wagon – the Chassis Cab features an exposed ladder frame behind the passenger cabin, giving customers and aftermarket vehicle converters a wide range of body-building options that are enhanced by the 3,500kg towing capability.

The Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab will be built in Hambach, France, at the manufacturing facility INEOS Automotive acquired from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021. Built on the same production line as the other Grenadier models, the Chassis Cab shares its fiveseat double cab, full box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, twospeed transfer case, and up to three locking differentials with the Quartermaster. Power comes from a choice of BMW 3.0-litre turbo-charged inline six-cylinder petrol or diesel engines, driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

“The Grenadier’s body-on-frame construction already provides huge versatility for customisation, and we know from customer configurations that our vehicles are being used equally between commercial and leisure users. The ‘blank canvas’ Chassis Cab variant allows even greater versatility, from the basic trayback for agricultural use through recovery and emergency services to tourism, presenting an ideal platform for an overlanding camper.” Adds Ratcliffe.

INEOS Automotive has unveiled its brand new 4X4 vehicle, the INEOS Fusilier, following the confirmation of a zero-emission model line in May 2022. The new vehicle will deliver world-class off-road capability, with zero compromise to on-road performance, and offers both zero and low emission options.

Unveiled in London by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it was confirmed that alongside the previously announced all-electric powertrain (BEV), a low emission range-extender electric is in development to ensure the INEOS Fusilier meets the broadest range of global consumer needs whilst pushing towards decarbonisation. The range-extender option consists of a small petrol engine that powers a generator to maintain the charge level of the battery for when external charging isn’t available. Confirmation of the alternative powertrain details and launch timings are expected by autumn 2024.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS says, “As we developed this vehicle, we quickly concluded that in order to move towards decarbonisation but continue making cars that consumers want to drive, we need a mix of powertrain technologies. BEVs are perfect for certain uses: shorter trips and urban deliveries, but industry and governments need to have realistic expectations around other technologies that can help accelerate the necessary pace of change. That is the reason we are offering an additional powertrain for the Fusilier, one that dramatically reduces emissions but has the range and refuelling capabilities needed.

Developed in conjunction with industry-leading automotive supplier, Magna, which will also manufacture the vehicle in its facility in Graz, Austria, the INEOS Fusilier will represent a unique proposition for customers. Building on the Grenadier’s DNA with a modern direction and distinctive identity, the new 4X4 will be slightly shorter in length and slightly lower in height. It will be built on a bespoke skateboard platform with a steel top hat and underbody, and aluminium doors and closures.

INEOS partnered with Magna on the development of the Grenadier station wagon and Quartermaster pick-up. As one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers and independent contract manufacturers, Magna produces a number of conventional ICE, hybrid and electric vehicles for various automakers. Part of the development process for the INEOS Fusilier will include a rigorous testing programme on Austria’s Schöckl mountain, close to Magna’s complete vehicle assembly facility in Graz.

Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive, comments, “Announcing our third model line is another significant milestone for INEOS Automotive, cementing our intent as an automotive manufacturer – like our full vehicle line-up, we are here for the long-haul.”

Demonstrating its wider commitment to future decarbonisation, INEOS Automotive also unveiled a Grenadier Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology Demonstrator at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023.  The Demonstrator proves that the technology for a hydrogen powered 4X4 is capable and ready for production, but the refuelling infrastructure needs to be in place before it is commercially viable.

Please note our Centre will be closed on Saturday 9 March due to planned electrical works from Electricity Northwest. This day closure will affect both our sales and aftersales departments.

Bowker Ribble Valley in Osbaldeston has confirmed a new partnership to provide INEOS Grenadier support vehicles for the 2024 Legend Fires North West Stages.

The partnership means the rally will return in 2024, after a year’s hiatus, with three INEOS Grenadier vehicles exclusively driven by safety-trained professionals during the event.

The 2024 Legend Fires North West Stages will be the opening round of the Probite British Rally Championship and the Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Championship. It will feature 58 stage miles over 10 special stages on closed public roads across Lancaster, Wyre and the Ribble Valley.

The iconic event will take place on the 22nd to 23rd of March 2024. The rally will kick off with a ceremonial civic send-off from Garstang’s High Street and a triumphant return for a champagne finish, marking innovative and spectator-friendly features of the event, supported by Garstang Town Council.

The rally will be hosted at Myerscough College’s Bilsborrow campus, serving as the Rally Headquarters, Central Service and Scrutineering location. Rallying enthusiasts and students at the College benefit from firsthand experience, enhancing the educational aspect of the partnership.

Speaking about the new partnership, Richard Rawlings, for Bowker Ribble Valley, said: “Bowker are proud to support the Legend Fires North West Stages in 2024. The INEOS Grenadier vehicles are robust and dependable, making them an ideal choice for support vehicles for one of the highlights of the North West autosport calendar.”

“The Legend Fires North West Stages attracts thousands of people each year. It is a great opportunity to see some of the best rally drivers in the country competing on some of the most challenging and exciting roads in Lancashire. We can’t wait for the event.”

2024 North West Stages

Rally Director Mark Hothersall from Legend Fires North West Stages said: “Having Bowker Ribble Valley on board as our support vehicle supplier is a fantastic addition to our event. The 2024 Legend Fires North West Stages promises to be the best yet. The rally’s return is a testament to the dedication of all involved, and we can’t wait to deliver a rally that we hope lives long in the memories of rallying enthusiasts and the local community.”

The North West Stages was first organised in 1995, but in 2019, was only the second car rally in England to take advantage of the updated Road Traffic Act legislation, which allows Councils to close public roads for motorsport events. The 2024 event will run exclusively on closed public highways, covering 58 miles over 10 special stages. Each stage will take place on the Saturday.

The All-New INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster was recently unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed, becoming the newest edition to the Grenadier family.

It made a very special appearance on the famous hillclimb with some familiar Goodwood faces to celebrate two 75-year automotive anniversaries – motorsports at Goodwood and the Belstaff Trialmaster Jacket that lends its name to one of Grenadier’s trims.

Bowker Motor Group has appointed David Ward as the first brand specialist for INEOS Grenadier in Lancashire.

Dave is from Preston and brings almost 25 years experience to the role having started in the automotive industry as a sales person in 1997. The former Broughton High School pupil has gone on to fulfil roles as a project manager and operations manager in automotive businesses throughout Lancashire. In his spare time Dave is a member of a group that takes part in adventure travelling expeditions together.

Dave said: “It’s exciting for me to be representing a new brand here in Lancashire. A key part of the INEOS Grenadier’s design is that it’s a canvas on which to build. So, my job will be to advise customers on configurations and different models, colour and different options available.

“We’re already taking advanced orders for the INEOS Grenadier and hosting events for Lancashire motorists to experience the 4×4 off roader for themselves.”

Bowker Ribble Valley is one of 24 UK sites that are among the first 160 locations to be confirmed in markets around the world. New signage has already been installed and the Bowker Ribble Valley dealership will offer a full INEOS aftersales facility to complement their partner status.

Bowker Ribble Valley will be the sole Lancashire partner for the new INEOS Grenadier 4X4, when it is launched later this year.

The agreement will see Bowker operate in partnership with INEOS from the automotive retailer’s existing Bowker Ribble Valley dealership on the A59 in Osbaldeston near Blackburn. It is one of 24 UK sites that are among the first 160 locations to be confirmed in markets around the world.

New signage has already been installed and the Bowker Ribble Valley dealership will offer a full INEOS aftersales facility to complement their partner status. The Bowker partnership with INEOS Automotive will be overseen by managing director Chris Eccles, supported by the existing Bowker Ribble Valley team.

Paul Bowker, Bowker Motor Group chief executive, said: “It is a huge privilege to be chosen by INEOS to be their nominated partner in Lancashire. We have already established award-winning motor retail experiences in Preston and Blackburn with some of the world’s most prestigious motoring brands. The partnership with INEOS is the next exciting chapter for us.

“INEOS brings a fresh perspective to 4X4 development and manufacturing. The Grenadier combines rugged British spirit with German engineering rigour; a truly uncompromising 4X4 built from the ground up. We look forward to building another successful partnership worthy of the Lancashire motoring community.”

INEOS will work with Bowker to establish the new partnership. The process includes an intensive INEOS training programme for sales executives and workshop technicians – beginning in May.

“We have worked tirelessly for over a year to find retail partners that share our enthusiasm and excitement for the Grenadier,” said Jack Stanley, regional business manager UK and Ireland for INEOS Automotive. “We have so far established a global network of over 160 partners who understand 4X4 users and their requirements, and have a proven track record for exceptional customer service. We are working with these partners to ensure they are ready to offer Grenadier customers and owners the advice, guidance and support they need.” By the end of 2022, INEOS plans to have a network of 200 sales and service sites for the Grenadier in over 50 countries, including established dealer groups, 4X4 specialists and agricultural equipment dealers. The aim is for the majority of customers in the UK to always be within 45 minutes of an official sales and service location.

SUPPORTING RIDERS AS THE OFFICIAL OFF-ROAD VEHICLE PARTNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL GS TROPHY 2022

22 teams. 1,300 kilometres of tough terrain. And us. In September 2022, 20 Grenadiers will join a total of 60 riders tackling the wilds of Albania through the mountains, valleys, rivers, forests, and along the beaches of this little-explored country.

TESTING THE LIMITS

The Grenadiers, some driven by INEOS Automotive mechanics, will travel everywhere the bikes do over the seven-day event. Keeping up with the teams and navigating the same brutal course while fully laden with provisions and supplies for the riders. A challenging job that will call on all the vehicle’s 4X4 performance, capability, and durability.

Every other year, owners and riders of BMW’s GS motorbike range gather to compete in this highly demanding off-road challenge. Previous events have taken place in New Zealand, Mongolia, Thailand, Canada, Patagonia, South Africa, and Tunisia. 2022 is the first time the International BMW Motorrad GS Trophy will be held in Europe.

Part one of our rugged 4X4’s involvement is the recce. Six Grenadiers will help scout the route before the start of the event proper. Then, from 1st to 14th September, they’ll be joined by 14 other Grenadiers, to shadow the bikes and riders on the tough course.

WE’RE DELIGHTED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT OUR FRIENDS AT BMW WITH INEOS GRENADIERS FOR THIS YEAR’S EVENT. THE INTERNATIONAL BMW MOTORRAD GS TROPHY IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST OFF-ROAD CHALLENGES. A GREAT TEST FOR THE RIDERS AND THEIR MACHINES – AND FOR THEIR GRENADIER SUPPORT VEHICLES. EXACTLY THE SORT OF THING WE BUILT THE GRENADIER FOR.”

Mark Tennant, Commercial Director, INEOS Automotive.

Stay tuned for more in the build-up to the event, and keep an eye out for the Grenadier in Albania. Click the link to find out more about this ultimate off-road biking challenge – and its four-wheeled support crew.

THE INEOS GRENADIER COUNTRYSIDE CHAMPION AWARD

The award will go to someone whose hard work and dedication is making a difference in the countryside. Whose actions have a positive impact on the rural community. And who’s improving country living socially, economically or environmentally. Do you know someone that deserves to be crowned our very first INEOS Grenadier Countryside Champion?

WE NEED YOUR NOMINATIONS

Nominations are open until February 28th. That’s when the judging panel will draw up their shortlist before deciding on the winner. Judging is led by James Horne – chairman of our partner in this award, GunsOnPegs. He’s joined by INEOS’s very own Head of Design, Toby Ecuyer, plus a wealth of rural experts, including people representing conservation, land management and the Countryside Alliance.

NOT JUST A TROPHY

The judges will also offer the winner help with their work or projects, and provide free advertising of that work through GunsOnPegs.

“THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE AND WORK IN OUR RURAL COMMUNITIES ARE A NATURAL FIT FOR OUR 4X4. SO IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE TO CELEBRATE THOSE DOING THEIR UTMOST TO IMPROVE LIFE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE.”

Mark Tennant, Commercial Director, INEOS Automotive.
