Bowker BMW hosted a preview event at both Blackburn and Preston dealerships to mark the arrival of the new BMW iX3 ahead of its first UK deliveries in 2026.
The new model is the first production car built on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform and features dual electric motors, all-wheel drive and fast-charging capability of up to 400 kW. Guests at the Preston showroom viewed the SUV, which offers a WLTP range of up to 500 miles and an interior built around the Panoramic iDrive digital system.
The preview evening took place on 26 February, with visitors able to explore the vehicle’s design, battery technology and practical features, including a five-seat layout and a boot capacity of up to approximately 1,750 litres with seats folded. The event also included music from a live DJ and food served on site.
Bowker BMW Preston head of business Chris Eccles said: “Seeing the new iX3 in our showroom felt like a glimpse of what the next decade of motoring will look like. People were walking around it with real curiosity — the kind you get when something feels properly new – and it was great to watch customers exploring the tech and asking questions late into the evening.”
The model previewed is built in Debrecen, Hungary, with UK prices starting at £58,755 for the 50 xDrive. BMW states a usable battery capacity of around 108–109 kWh and a 10 to 80 per cent charging time of roughly 21 minutes on an ultra-rapid charger. Deliveries across Europe are scheduled to begin in early 2026.
The launch event at Bowker’s Preston and Blackburn centres was presented as an opportunity for customers and prospects to familiarise themselves with the first Neue Klasse model before ordering. Similar preview activities are expected as further Neue Klasse vehicles progress towards market.
Chris Eccles said: “Everyone who came along seemed to enjoy the chance to see the car before it officially lands. The mix of music, food and the new tech gave the night a relaxed feel, and we had plenty of conversations with people planning their next electric car.”
