Alison’s Sahara Desert Challenge Fundraising Campaign Celebrates £15,000 Milestone for CoppaFeel

A Bowker BMW Sales Executive from Broughton has raised more than £15,000 for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! after completing a 114km trek across the Sahara Desert in Morocco.

Alison Prowse completed the challenge in November 2025 over eight days alongside 130 people affected by cancer in some way. The trek covered 114km across the Sahara Desert and involved camping in desert conditions.

Her fundraising total has now passed £15,000, more than £5,000 over her £10,000 fundraising target, with Alison placed fourth on the fundraising board. She has kept her donation page open until November 2026, when 24 November will mark five years since she was clear of cancer.

Alison Prowse said: “Reaching more than £15,000 feels incredible. The trek was tough, dusty and emotional, and there were moments that will stay with me for a long time. To come home from the Sahara and see how much has been raised for CoppaFeel! means so much to me.”

Alison was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2020 and took on the trek to raise money for CoppaFeel!, which works to encourage awareness of breast cancer signs and symptoms and the importance of early detection among young people. She has recently returned to work following further preventative surgery.

The event involved four teams in total, with Millie Mackintosh as Alison’s team captain and Giovanna Fletcher as patron. Alison documented scenes from the trip, including tents, food, sandstorms, desert landscapes and a camel being born in the wild.

Alison Prowse said: “This was about marking how far I’ve come and doing something practical to support a cause linked to my own experience. I’m very grateful to everyone who has donated so far, and I’d love to keep the fundraising going through to November 2026.”

Funds include money raised by colleagues at Bowker BMW who held a charity bake sale to support Alison’s 100km Sahara Desert trek. The event, held in August last year, brought staff and visitors together to enjoy a coffee morning and a bake sale. The sale raised more than £400 with many contributing home-baked goods to the cause.

Donations to Alison’s campaign will remain open until November 2026 as she continues to raise money for CoppaFeel! alongside her return to work at Bowker BMW. To support Alison’s fundraising, visit her JustGiving page: justgiving.com/page/alison-prowse-1736365546588
