Bowker MINI extends sponsorship deal with young Blackburn BMX racer Maisie Egan

Bowker MINI in Blackburn has renewed its sponsorship of 11-year-old BMX racer Maisie Egan for the 2026 season, with Maisie currently ranked 3rd in the country in her age group.

The centre confirmed the extension following a successful 2025 campaign, during which she competed in domestic and international events, including rounds of national series, European Cup races, and the World Championships in Copenhagen. The agreement will continue to support travel, race entry fees, and equipment as she moves into the 12-year-old girls category.

Dad, Mark Egan, Maisie’s Dad, said: “Maisie’s had a real mix of highs and lows over the winter. Breaking her arm in December knocked her confidence at first, but once she was back on the turbo trainer, you could see the fire coming back. She’s thrown herself into training because she wants to prove to herself that she’s ready for the step up this year.

“Having Bowker MINI continue their support makes such a difference to us as a family. It means we can focus on helping her prepare properly without worrying about every cost that comes with racing around the UK and abroad. To see a local business backing a young rider like Maisie is genuinely heartwarming, and she’s determined to make them proud this season.”

Maisie Egan, from Blackburn, began competing in 2021. Bowker MINI began sponsoring Maisie in 2025 after her national title wins the previous year. The renewed support will see the dealership’s branding continue to feature on her race helmet, alongside appearances at the showroom and social media coverage after events.

In the 2025 season, she finished third in the UCI Open Race (11–12 Girls) in Alicante. She also demonstrated strong form in the British BMX National Series, finishing third overall with a haul of one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.

On the international stage, she reached the semi-finals at European Cup rounds in Verona, Zolder, and Tiel, securing 16th place in the European Championships and 20th place at the World Championships.

The 2026 season will include UK National Series rounds and selected European Cup events. Egan is also targeting the European Championships in Sarrians, France, and the World Championships in Brisbane, Australia. She has resumed training following her December injury and is preparing for the new season starting in March.

Sebastian Cerami for Bowker MINI said: “Maisie’s dedication is clear to everyone who follows her racing. We’ve been inspired by the way she approached last season and how she’s bounced back from injury.

“Supporting young talent in our community is important to us, and Maisie is a great example of what can be achieved with hard work and the right encouragement. We’re delighted to continue backing her for the 2026 season, and we’re looking forward to seeing her take on new challenges across the UK, Europe, and beyond.”

The first races of the 2026 calendar begin in March, with Maisie planning to compete across the UK and Europe as she works towards qualification goals for both major championships.
