Bowker Motorrad Supports Biker Down with New BMW R1300GS TE

Bowker Motorrad has provided a new BMW R1300GS TE to support the Biker Down safety initiative in Lancashire, reinforcing its partnership with the rider-focused training programme.

The dealership will make the bike available exclusively for Biker Down’s public events, shows, and awareness campaigns. The bike will be kept at Bowker Motorrad’s Preston showroom, prominently displayed with QR codes to direct visitors to course booking pages and further information about the initiative.

Richard Chacewicz, Sales Manager at Bowker Motorrad, said: “We’ve been working with Biker Down for years now, and this felt like the right next step. The R1300GS TE is built for going the distance, just like the message Biker Down is spreading. Having the bike on display will help start conversations and get more people signed up for the courses.”

The R1300GS TE, BMW’s latest adventure touring motorcycle, replaces the R1250GS and features a 1,300 cc boxer twin engine delivering around 145 bhp and 149 Nm of torque. The bike also includes the TE (Travel Edition) package, with electronic suspension, heated grips, GPS mounting, and pannier-ready setup – equipment aligned with the long-distance and event travel needs of the Biker Down team.

Clare Burscough from Biker Down said: “It means the world to us to have Bowker’s continued support – not just offering us a bike, but a platform. The fact the R1300GS TE will be parked in the dealership entrance with QR codes means more eyes on what we do, and hopefully more lives saved in the long run.”

The liveried bike is expected to appear at public events, including a debut at Tatcon in Blackpool. Bowker Motorrad will also promote the partnership through digital channels and in-store signage.

More than 500 riders have attended Biker Down sessions at Bowker Motorrad’s dealership in Preston. Biker Down has collaborated with Bowker Motorrad, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service and South Lancashire Advanced Motorcyclists (SLAM) to run multiple courses since 2022.

The events have combined classroom-style training with practical demonstrations, such as CPR, helmet removal and first aid response, often delivered in partnership with ambulance services and road safety charities.

Biker Down, launched by Kent Fire & Rescue Service and now delivered by fire services nationwide, offers free safety training to motorcyclists. Its sessions cover crash scene management, trauma care, and visibility awareness.
