The Ghibli’s design strongly reflects its sporting pedigreeThe first Maserati Ghibli was designed and unveiled at the Turin Motor show of the 1966. It followed a tradition pioneered by Maserati with the glorious A6 1500 of 1947: it was a grand tourer. That meant it delivered on the promise of glorious style, high-powered luxury and peerless comfort over almost any distance the owner cared to consider. A car imbued, naturally, with our motor racing DNA - a remarkably powerful force. Our latest Ghibli models embodies the spirit that shaped both the first incarnation of 1966 and our hunger to innovate, compete and win. That means exclusive luxury, elegant yet and bold design and progressive technology. And, of course, empowering performance.
GranLusso: Effortless LuxuryThe GranLusso trim extends the offering of the Ghibli by adding chromed bumper inserts, the GranLusso badge at the bases of the front wings and elegantly integrated body-colour side skirts. It also features large 19” Poseidone alloy wheels, complete with visible black brake calipers. Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights and Soft Close Doors, which draws each of the four doors to a close when left slightly ajar, are yet more welcome additions. It’s an alluring package that leaves no doubt as to the exclusive, long-distance comforts for all to enjoy inside this vehicle.
GranSport: Sporting StyleLike the GranLusso, GranSport also offers the hi-tech style and safety of Full-LED Adaptive Matrix headlights and the convenience of Soft Close Doors. The headlights continuously adjust the high and low beams, ensuring a sublimely comfortable and safe drive experience, whatever the speed or driving conditions. The low beam automatically adapts to all road and weather conditions, while the matrix high beam detects and prevents glare from oncoming and rear traffic, safely restoring the high beam when the road is clear. At the sides, the GranSport badge is incorporated into the front wings, while the aerodynamically optimised skirts match the body colour. There’s a bold flash of colour here, too. This is thanks to red brake calipers fitted to the imposing new 20” Urano machine-polished alloy wheels.
GranLusso: opulence with an edgeThe interior of the GranLusso offers Comfort seats with extensive 12-way power adjustment and a memory function for instant access to pre-set configurations. Additionally, there is the choice of either full premium leather or Ermenegildo Zegna Silk Edition upholstery, both complemented beautifully by Radica open-pore wood trim.
GranSport: take the racing lineSport seats feature 12-way power adjustment and a memory function, there’s a satisfyingly grippy Sport steering wheel, gearshift paddles enhance the race-bred feel and purist Inox Sport foot pedals enhance the sense of direct dynamic involvement. The GranSport also includes the convenience and flexibility of the Skyhook suspension system and parking sensors.
The first diesel car in Maserati’s history delivers sporty performanceThe turbocharged V6 in the Maserati Ghibli Diesel offers a uniquely rewarding combination of massive power, long-distance refinement and impressive efficiency. Developing class-leading output of 275 hp and a mighty 600 Nm of torque, the engine takes the Ghibli from zero to 62 mph in a fast and smooth 6.3 seconds before going on to top speed of 155 mph. As for economy and emissions, the figures speak volumes. Combined fuel consumption is 47.9 mpg and CO2 emissions are just 158 g/km. A state-of-the-art Common Rail fuel injection system and the “air gap technology” of the exhaust manifolds ensure excellent refinement, while variable geometry turbocharging significantly cuts turbo lag.
Maserati Active Sound SystemA Maserati is also recognisable by its engine sound: the Ghibli Diesel’s strong sporty nature is also strongly conveyed in this department thanks to the introduction of the new Maserati Active Sound system. Two sound actuators, fitted near the exhaust tailpipes, enhance the engine’s most attractive sounds. When the driver presses the Sport button on the central tunnel, this roar becomes even more vocal and thrilling.
The automatic transmission responds to driving style and road conditionsThe advanced design of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission ensures precise gear changes and optimum performance, putting the power of the Ghibli engines under your complete control. Thanks to auto-adaptive software, the transmission modifies its shift patterns according to driving style, for an even more rewarding, one-to-one driving experience. And when it comes to long, high-speed journeys, the last two gears, seventh and eighth, are specially calibrated to reduce fuel consumption and further increase comfort.
MASERATI TOUCH CONTROL PLUSThe 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit takes pride of place at the centre of the Ghibli dashboard. With very few buttons plus a highly responsive interface, it is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead and mastering it is intuitive and easy. MTC+ can be operated in three ways: via the multi-touchscreen, the rotary control in the central console, or through voice commands. The system incorporates the car’s radio, Bluetooth®, and satellite navigation system (where fitted), along with connections to external sources such as mobile phones, tablets and laptop computers. Using aux-in, USB sockets or the SD card reader, you can also play music or, when the car is stationary, watch films and view images on the screen. In addition, MTC+ controls the front seat heating, as well as the ventilation, steering wheel heating and the operation of the rear window blind, where fitted. The screen displays the rear-view, with guidelines, for the reversing camera, too. The state-of-the-art system also features both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® mirroring functions. In addition, for iPhone® users, Apple’s Siri® system acts as a personal assistant, allowing them to carry out tasks using voice command. Through naturally spoken language, it is possible to make a call or access music, messages, reminders, emails, websites and much more.
